Coverage of the 2023 Teacher Of The Year Awards presented by The Dearborn Area Chamber Of Commerce held at Dearborn's Ford Community & Performing Arts Center on April 27, 2023.

The Teacher of the Year Award began in 1997, under the leadership of one of our chamber members, Alberta Muirhead. Discussion surrounded how essential it was to attract, retain and encourage excellent teachers and Ms. Muirhead suggested that the chamber recognize outstanding teachers in our community. Ms. Muirhead’s vision and support, as well as the strong positive response from the education committee and the board of directors, led to the establishment of the Teacher of the Year Award. Nomination forms are available each March and the award ceremony is held each May.
